A medical doctor with Public health background, experienced at local, national, international levels, in development sector and with expertise in dealing with health, disaster preparedness and advocacy issues especially in HIV AIDS

Health Research and documentation
· Doctoral research on malnutrition among under fives in villages in South Arcot. India

Health training
· Trained and built the capacity of over 100 grass root communities and Traditional Birth Attendants in areas of HIV/AIDS care, micro-finance, gender equity, Disaster preparedness and Peoples health movement
· Trained middle and senior level managers of around 120 NGOs in water and sanitation
· Trained middle level managers in Disaster preparedness
Academics
· Worked as tutor for medical students in Christian Medical college and Hospital Vellore South India, and conducted research programs.
Commenced formal High schools in 1892 which now has 1200 students and 58 teachers.- focusing on creative education

Hospital management
· Began career as a medical officer in Rural Orissa and Tamilnadu (1976-81) working amidst challenging situations and resource poor settings dealing with maternal and child health and general health care.
· Administered a 20 bedded Community Hospital with outreach programs focused on women and children as a practicing doctor and surgeon in Tamilnadu
Primary health care and Development
· Founded a national level NGO called India Rural Reconstruction and Disaster response service PREPARE
Directed three Integrated Health and Development Programs covering 75 to 200 villages and towns in three States of India among three ethnic and marginalised groups namely the hill tribes, fisher folk and harijans
· Initiated primary health care program in the primitive tribal villages of Orissa JELC area, fisherfolk villages in ,coastal areas of AELC Andhra Pradesh, Dalit villages of Tamilnadu in India
Leading and directing a team of 144 full time staff and 250 part time workers in the areas of - Disaster Preparedness, Post cyclone rehabilitation in Orissa state , Land rights, Primary Health Care, Food security, Gender , Reproductive Health, Housing, disability rehabilitation, Disaster preparedness , HIV / AIDS
· .Provided and followed up Treatment of Opportunistic infections and AIDS among more than 4000 PLHAs in Andhra Pradesh
· Initiated and implemented Community based rehabilitation of Disabled persons in 2 states i.e.Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh
· Assisted in tsunami relief and rehabilitation project o PREPARE with 8 NGOs in Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh in India over 3 years
· Implementing a community based HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support program in rural Andhra Pradesh
· Presently offering consultancy services to national and international NGOs in the areas of health, with special focus on HIV AIDS – national scoping exercise, capacity building, evaluations, feasibility studies and Disaster preparedness

· Delivered the World AIDS day lecture at California Lutheran University in December 2006 and motivated the involvement of the university in HIV AIDS

Conducted a country scoping exercise on HIV AIDS in Myanmar and helped to mobilize resources for a national response by the Myanmar Baptist Convention.
Church and Healing Ministry
· Working with Christian Medical Association of India, and National Council of churches in India on developing a church policy related to HIV AIDS
· Was Consultant to AIDS desk of National Lutheran Health and Medical Board in Chennai, India . Planning implementing response through formal and informal healthcare institutions and the churches. ( 2005- August 2007
- developed a community based HIV AIDS care and support programme among church base communities in Andhra Pradesh

- Developed manuals and booklets on HIV AIDS, and pastoral care

Advocacy
Advocacy on Environmental issues- Launched a national campaign against Industrial Shrimp, Monitoring and advocacy against Infant Formulas promoted by industries, Monitoring and lobbying against Pesticide usage at the regional and national level
· Took up National level advocacy efforts against agro chemicals, infant formula, invasive contraceptive trials in India as a part of Asia Pacific networks
· Studied the Voluntary counseling and Testing centre responses in the State and mobilized involvement of NGOs
· Followed up the ART program of the Government of Andhra Pradesh , involved in district level planning
Participated and presented papers in international meetings at Philippines, Srilanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, Germany, Netherlands,. ICPD Cairo, Miami, Kenya, Thailand, Sri Lanka
Initiated State level and national level networks on Voluntary action , advocacy issues related to NGOs freedom, gender, and corporate intrusion., Member of many national and international networks.
